Transforming My 1990 Nissan 240SX into a Speed Demon**
Hey fellow car enthusiasts! I wanted to share the journey of my project car - a 1990 Nissan 240SX that went from being a slowpoke to a true speed demon. Buckle up, because this ride has been one wild adventure from start to finish.
**Starting Point: Windward Road in Kingston**
I first laid eyes on this 1990 Nissan 240SX near Windward Road Kingston in 2006. It had a KA24E engine and a 5-speed transmission, but let's be honest, it was as slow as molasses. Nevertheless, I saw the potential and knew I had to bring it to life.
**Two 240SXs, Two Different Paths**
Around the same time, I also had a 1990 Nissan 240SX parked in Texas. This one was destined for greatness. I made the decision to swap in a JDM Redtop SR20DET engine, the kind that turns heads and makes hearts race. With Megan Racing lowering springs and eBay wheels.
**The Transformation: Parts, Passion, and Patience**
Gathering parts was a journey in itself. I wanted a look that was unique, so I opted for a body kit mashup featuring a GP Sports front bumper, GP Sports rear bumper, and Vertex side skirts. The vision was coming together. Staggered Sportmax wheels (later rebranded as XXR) and Megan Racing coilovers added both style and performance.
**The Heart of the Beast: SR20DET Blacktop**
The engine swap was a pivotal moment. The SR20DET Blacktop from a 180SX was the chosen heart of my beast. The sweet symphony of the Apexi Dual N1 catback was the perfect match to the roaring engine. My 240SX was now FUN to drive.
**Putting It All Together: Skillful Hands and Passion**
None of this would have been possible without the talented hands of the folks who brought my vision to life. The bodywork and installation were skillfully executed by a body shop, while the engine swap was tackled by the masterful Bolt at Autosource.
**From 0 to Wow: The Result**
My 1990 Nissan 240SX has undergone a complete metamorphosis. From a sluggish cruiser to a street dominator, the transformation has been nothing short of mind-blowing. The power, the sound, and the presence it exudes are beyond my wildest dreams.
** Engine upgrades**
** The Decline**
After being hit by a lady on Barbican road and swindled out by the insurance company as they said both parties were at fauly. The car sat for a few years and I lost interest in it. To add injury to insult I took the car out one weekend and damaged the engine. The car has been parked since (2016)
**Stay Tuned for More Adventures**
The story of my project car is far from over. Stay tuned as I rebuild my 240SX.
Remember, it's not just about the destination; it's about the journey. Keep chasing those dreams and burning rubber, my fellow gearheads!
